(1) Arch mounting machine. Arch type (also known as boom type) machine is a traditional mounting machine, with better flexibility and accuracy, suitable for most components, high-precision machines are generally of this type, but its speed can not be compared with compound, turret and large parallel systems. However, component arrangements are increasingly concentrated on active components, such as leaded QFP (Quad flat package) and BGA (Ball grid array), and installation accuracy is critical to high production. Composite, turret and large parallel systems are generally not suitable for this type of component installation.

(2) Compound placement machine. The composite machine is developed from the arch machine, which combines the characteristics of the turret and the arch, and has a turntable mounted on the boom, such as the Siemens Siplace80S25 mounter, which has two rotating heads with 12 nozzles. Universal also introduced a 30-nozzle swivelling head called the Lightning Head, two of which were mounted on the Genesis patch platform and achieved 60,000 patch speeds per hour. Strictly speaking, the compound machine still belongs to the boom structure. Because the composite machine can increase the speed by increasing the number of boom, with greater flexibility, its development prospects are promising, for example, Siemens launched the HS60 machine installed with four rotating heads, mounting speed of up to 60,000 pieces per hour.

(3) Turret mounting machine. The concept of the turret is to use a set of moving feeders from which the turret draws components and then attaches them to a circuit board on a moving workbench. The mounting speed of the turret machine is greatly improved because of the simultaneous picking up of components and the mounting action. This structure of high-speed mounter is also widely used in our country, not only fast, but also after more than ten years of development technology has been very mature, such as Fuji's CP842E machine mount speed can reach 0.068 seconds/piece. However, due to the mechanical structure of this machine, its mounting speed has reached a limit value and can not be greatly increased. The disadvantage of this model is that it can only handle ribbon material.

(4) Large-scale parallel systems. Massively parallel systems (also known as module machines) use a series of small individual mount units (also known as modules). Each unit has its own lead screw position system with camera and mount head mounted. Each mounting head can absorb a limited number of belt feeders, mount a portion of the PCB, and the PCB is advanced in the machine at regular intervals. Individually, each unit of the machine runs slower. However, their continuous or parallel operation has a high yield. For example, the AX-5 machine of Assembleon had more than 20 mounting heads, achieving the mounting speed of 150,000 pieces per hour, which is considered as the industry, but for each mounting head, the mounting speed was about 7,500 pieces per hour, which could still be greatly improved. This model is also mainly suitable for large-scale production, such as mobile phones. Large-scale parallel system machines were mainly produced by Assembleon. Fuji also introduced NXT ultra-high speed mounting machine with similar structure. Equipped with replaceable mounting head, the same machine could be either a high speed machine or a universal machine, and almost all mounting components could be mounted. Thus, the initial investment in equipment and increased investment in equipment are reduced to a low degree.
